Blu Homes, a green prefab startup out of Massachusetts, is on a tear with $7 million in new cash and a contemporary set of homes.  Today the company announced its latest design called Balance, which is a 1,632 square foot single-level home that prices from about $270,000.  Balance is factory-built, ships anywhere in the country on two trucks, and unfolds to a spacious 34′ wide and 48′ long with 16′ ceilings.

In the end, these green prefabs are delivered efficiently and assembled with ease.  The company hopes to be able to complete all button up work — finishes, fixtures, drywall patching, etc — with three workers in five days.

Balance, like all Blu Homes, feature low- or no-VOC paints and finishes, recycled and recyclable materials, low-flow fixtures, Energy Star appliances, high efficiency heating and cooling systems, and design to maximize passive heating and cooling.

Balance is the fourth design to be released by Blu Homes in the last six months.  Other models include Origin, Element, and Evolution, while MK, formerly Michelle Kaufmann homes, should be released by the end of this year.
